(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) June 9, 2008 – Sparrow Records singer/songwriter Shawn McDonald offers fans another musical side with the upcoming June 24 EP release Roots Remixed. The Roots Remixed EP contains six indie remixes of tracks from his recent studio project Roots and will be available through all digital music outlets.
McDonald released his third studio album, Roots, on March 11, 2008, almost one year to the day of his second live project Scattered Pieces and two years from sophomore effort Ripen. With its inventive sounds and rich songwriting, Roots collected much high praise from critics.
“McDonald branches out with an expansive musical vision and brilliance unlike anything he’s previously released. Roots reaches new heights for an already impressive singer/songwriter.” –CCM Magazine
“It’s easily his finest work to date. Roots combines the radio-friendly acoustic pop of Simply Nothing with the deeper lyricism and inventive alt-folk of Ripen, and like any good third effort, it ends up defining the artist.” –ChristianMusicToday.com
“Roots leaves you wanting more. This maybe the album that finally gets Shawn McDonald the props he so richly deserves.” –CMC
“From the moment I was first approached about this EP, I wanted to go a different route, taking more of a creative approach,” McDonald says. “I was blown away by how it turned out. It’s put a fresh new twist on my music. Thanks for taking time to listen.”
Roots Remixed includes the tracks:
1. Roots (Remix)
2. Waltz in 3 (Remix)
3. Light (Remix)
4. Captivated (Remix)
5. Shadowlands (Remix)
6. Hallelujah (Remix)
In support of the EP and his March 11 release, McDonald will travel the summer festival circuit and is planning a fall “Roots” Tour to follow the successful spring leg.
